Family -- don't know how active this blog is these days, but I just sent out a massive email and tried to include as many family memebers as I have emails for. Seeing as I don't have everyone's, I thought I'd post that email here as well...
Dear friends, colleagues and business associates,
It's likely been a while since we were in touch last, but if you are receiving this email from me it's because you are either a personal contact or a contact that was a result of my 3.5 years as the managing editor at Sierrastyle Publishing.
If you've not heard by now, I recently resigned from my position at Sierrastyle so that I can focus on finishing my master's degree in creative writing, a program that I will finish in December! In the meantime, I wanted to touch base, give you a brief update and let you know that I am available for and eager to take on freelance writing/editing projects. If you have contacts who would benefit from my services, I'd greatly appreciate the referral. Please feel free to forward this email. For an example of my work, you can visit the web site of a good friend of mine, Lori Tel, at gigglefishgifts.com. The copy on this site was all written and/or edited by me.
If you have any questions, would like more information, or would like to just drop a line to say hello – I'd love to hear from you! Thanks in advance for spreading the word…

my serious summer
ahhh - those hilarious wedding pictures take me back to a carefree time when summer was on the horizon and i was enjoying time with friedns and family. well, those days are long gone. i have spent my summer working my a** off. i am fulfilling an internship requirement for my master's program, working with girls inc. - a non-profit that works to empower young women. sounds right up my alley huh? not quite. there is little organization, planning and structure - plus camp in held in a the classrooms of a high school. it's a mess and my supervisor has been very little help as a mentor or even a leader. i have to be here from 730-12 and then i spent 4 weeks taking a class from 1-4. plus my 10 hours a week at the radio station. AHHHHHH!!!!!
i hope you are all enjoying your summer and that they are less hectic than mine.
hey kendra - your desserts look amazing. i love the bride and groom strawberries!!
also - will someone please email me wedding pictures - thinkpink78@hotmail.com

Webkinz. Haven't You Ever Heard of It?
Come with me on a journey. A voyage if you will, to a magical place. A world full of awe, and excitement... And fluffy little stuffed animals that you can adopt, name, feed, build houses for, and maintain their emotional and physical health. Yes, that's right, I am speaking of Webkinz World. In case you have never heard of it I will attempt, to the best of my ability using my rudimentary knowledge on this subject, explain this magnificent paradise.
Webkinz is essentially Ty Beanie Babies, and Tamagotchi melded into one slightly larger, and much more cuddly, stuffed animal. Only, they come with way more than a boring little po
em to describe who they are, or a stupid key chain. No, no, no my friend. They come with so much more indeed. "Like what?" you ask. How about a secret code, like the one on my cousin Denver's tree frog he adopted today; HYX8DCF...... really? Did you seriously think I would promote identity theft? Do you know how many people are victimized by that a year? How many lives are ruined!!! Well, maybe you should read up, educate yourself.

Do you know how many people are victimized by that a year? How many lives are ruined!!! Well, maybe you should read up, educate yourself. Now, where was I? Right, Webkinz adoption. You can adopt a Webkinz pet at your local toy store. The animal comes with a tag, a social security number of sorts, which allows you to finalize the adoption process online at www.webkinz.com. Once you have chosen your pets name you get a certificate of adoption. Now you are ready to enter Webkinz World, and start building a house for your Webkinz. Of course, being the parent of an adopted pet is not all fun and games. You have to provide for their physical and emotional needs. To do this, you must have money, Kinz Cash, which of course requires getting a job. Or playing arcade games, whichever you prefer.
The best part is the fact that you are not alone in Webkinz World. You can make friends there, and invite them over to you Webkinz's house to play. You can also play arcade games against them, and chat with them using a super scaled down wannabe AIM type program. Don't worry, the Chat software is set so you can only use pre programmed statements. No personal information can be shared, remember, identity theft is no laughing matter.

Our Big Day!

Yesterday was Commissioning Day for our Yacht Club and this is us on our boat in the parade of boats. It is called the "Blessing of the Fleet" where ministers stand on the dock and bless your boat for the commencing of a new boating season. It was a great day, great weather, a flag ceremony and a luncheon after the ceremony and "yours truly" ran the luncheon. Thought you would enjoy the pictures. Love you, Mom (Grandmom)

A shout out from the Martz's
Hey Fam,
So this is where everyone has been hangin out! It's fun to read what's going on. The happenings here is Monsoon season has hit NJ...flooding...flooding...and then a little more flooding ; ) but we are fairing very well. Our back yard has taken a beating though and it seems we don't need to look for lake front property after all.
Denver started T-ball this week and loving it. He finally lost two baby teeth this past month. So he is officially on his way to boyhood. Greg is in the height of busy season with his Virtual Tour business and doing some home projects...he just built a closet in D-man's room. The house feels like it's getting too small for us...probably b/c we keep accumulating junk. But we are feeling the itch to move. Jersey is getting too expensive to live in these days for the amount of house you get, and I am feeling very DONE with this state. However our network of people are here so it's challenging to move away from it. Where to go. Within the last 2 years I have become involved with a Wellness business "Young Living Essential Oils". It's a MLM (Multi Level Marketing) company who uses pure essential oils (or Nature) as the medicine cabinet instead of pharmacueticals. I get to recieve and witness a lot of empowerment and restored health and I'm loving it. I am still teaching Yoga privately and classes...and loving that too.
The big event that has taken place this month is the Mourning Dove that found our window box as her home for nesting. It has been quite the ride for all of us. We watched the whole process from laying the two eggs to the hatching to raining on them, and all the worrying "do you think I should cover them from the rain?" and "isn't it too cold?" oh the worrying we did (ok I did). Well finally they flew out of the nest today...and Denver and I cried. I know it sounds funny to you...I can hear Kenny laughing all the way from CA...but we really got attached! All in the learning I suppose. I'll try to send a video clip of them feeding.
That's all from this part of the country. We'll see some of you real soon. Looking forward to it!
Love, Aunt Sue

Fam --
This is so fabulous! After reading the emails and posts thus far, I found myself laughing almost uncontrollably and I have to say that that is one thing I have always enjoyed about our fam -- that we always make each other laugh in one way or another. I already LOVE having an online community with you, so I hope everyone enjoys it too, and participates!
A quick update on me: Still with the publishing company, though have been looking for something new and have had several interviews/conversations with another publication here in Sacramento. Recently moved into an apartment in downtown Sacramento by myself -- that's right, it's the first time in my life that I've ever lived alone! It's just me and Sydney (the cat). So far so good, but I do get lonely at times -- especially at night. Love the location, though. My favorite thing about where I live is jogging around the capital -- how cool is that?! Also in grad school (like Alicia), pursuing an MA in English with an emphasis in creative writing. If all goes according to plan, I should finish this fall (woo-hoo!!).
So that is Just Janna in a nutshell -- thanks for reading. Love and hugs all around!

Title discusion
hey all,
Aunt Chris brought up the point (concerning the title i created for the blog) that we are not all "Santoro". i wanted to explain my reasoning behind the title, and then open it up to discussion about what the title of the blog should be. so here's my long winded reasoning:
we are all connected by one very common thread. the only reason we are blogging on this communal blog is because we are all part of one large family unit. and although the majority of the family unit is no longer named Santoro, Santoro is the origin of the unit. were it not for the patriarchal establishment of of the family by our grandparents (parents to some of you), who were then known as Salvatore and Janet SANTORO none of this family would be connected. so, whether you were born into the Santoro name, married into the Santoro name, married away from the Santoro name, or whatever, we are all connected by it. therefore, we are all santoro's somehow.
so there it is. if you have thoughts, please add them as a comment to this post so the main blog page doesn't get bogged down by this discusion. (just click on the Comments button under this blog post)
if y'all wanna get away from the "we're all santoro's somehow" title, I have a back up title for every one to chew on:
"we are sanwizlengantz"

here i am
this is such a fantastic idea. thanks tony!
i can't wait to see everyone at the wedding and visit. mom an at home spa day sounds wonderful. i'll bring some goodies. ok - here's my update
1. about to complete my first year in grad school. YEAH!! for those of you who don't know i am pursuing my master's in women's and gender studies at university of north carolina - greensboro. i recently presented a paper of mine at a conference and won an award for most creative. next year i will begin working on my culminating project - paperbag productions. the goal is to create an all female performance group that will raise awareness of social issues through multi-media stage productions. if all goes well this project will blossom into a "career" or hopefully the development of a non-profit that will serve girls.
2. i work as a DJ at the campus radio station. you can listen online at www.wuag.net. my show is on tuesdays from 7-9pm. i recently applied for two positions on the executive board, sports and news director. i will only get one (if any) and if i become the sports director i will be the first woman EVER to hold the position.
3. i am just beginning to freelance with the local newpaper's arts and entertainment magazine. hopefully i will have some published articles to share when we see each other in may.
those are the biggies. i love living in greensboro. it is a beautiful community, lots of trees and flowers and not too much suburbia. reminds me of princeton. i have made lots of connections with people who share similar interests and i work as a graduate assistant in the women's and gender studies department which has allowed me to implement original programs on campus. i am looking forward to the summer - working with a local non-profit called Girls Inc. and traveling as much as i can afford to. i have been dating here and there, nothing too serious.
well - i love you guys and can't wait to hear from you.
xoxo
